A terrific example of the vintage, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five delivers serious depth and intensity, but with relatively soft tannins for the year. Inky blue and purplish fruit, spices, mint and lavender flesh out in the glass. Succulent and fleshy, the One Point Five offers more near and medium-term accessibility than most 2013s.
One Point Five is an elegant, silky Cabernet Sauvignon with soft tannins and abundant fruit that is approachable when young, yet capable of aging gracefully. This wine reflects the climate and soils of our Stags Leap District vineyard sites and Shafer’s commitment to meticulous, sustainable farming and quality winemaking.
Vinous 92 points (Oct 2015)
The velvety approachability of this soft, supple wine belies a strength and sophistication always at the heart of this producer’s wines, an intensity of flavor and power that commands attention. Black currant, black cherry, sage and smoky oak ride atop an underground of black pepper, combining ultimately into a tantalizingly juicy package. Drink now through 2023. #10 Top 100 Cellat Selections 2016
