“One of my favorite wineries, Beau Vigne’s vineyard sits at a high elevation in the southern Napa Valley, back Soda Canyon Road, overlooking the Pritchard Hill Gap as well as the Stagecoach Vineyard. The AVA for these wines is Atlas Peak and the soils are all volcanic origin. This winery is currently on a qualitative roll.”

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Guest Cottage is a blend of Beau Vigne's two estate properties located on Silverado Trail, one west of Soda Canyon and the other being Stag’s Ridge Vineyard, which sits at 1,400 feet in elevation. It is composed of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose is a little reticent to begin, soon unfurling to reveal fragrant notes of warm cassis, black cherries and black raspberries with hints of candied violets, chocolate box, spice cake and cedar chest plus a hint of iron ore. The full-bodied palate is solidly built with a firm, grainy texture and oodles of freshness supporting the taut, muscular black fruits, finishing with great length and depth.
