San Leonardo
Italy
(Thesame blend as the 1999) Brilliant ruby. Knockout aromas of woodland flowers and violets augmented by sweet cigar box scents. On the palate one finds bell pepper, roasted beet, mocha, clove and fruitcake, with buttered toast on the long, smooth finish. A polished, savory wine, nicely cushioned by ample but smooth tannins, and elevated by bright acidity. (This ancient property is currently the family seat of Marchese Guerrieri Gonzaga, who specializes in Bordeaux blends that, for the last several decades, have been benchmarks for this type of wine in Italy
